Spice Rubbed Fillet Steak with Horseradish Sauce

The spice rub is a dry marinade which gives the steak lots of flavour. It is served with a spicy sweet horseradish sauce which has a little bite of its own. Serve the steak with Golden Mashed Potatoes (see recipe index).

Method

  1. Make the horseradish sauce. Combine all the ingredients and mix well. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  2. Make the spice rub. Combine all the spices in a spice grinder and process until coarsely ground. Rub the mixture over the steak. Marinate for 4 hours.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200 ºC (400 ºF). Place the steak onto a roasting rack and drizzle with olive oil. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes. Let the steak rest for 4 minutes and serve, cut into thick slices and serve with the horseradish sauce and golden mashed potatoes.
