Candied Popcorn

This candied popcorn is nice and crunchy, not to sweet and positively addictive. The kids love it and it’s also a terrific snack with a glass of apple cider.

Method

  1. Combine sugar, water, golden syrup, butter, vinegar and salt in a saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat to 122 ºC (250 ºF) on a sugar thermometer or until a small amount forms a hard ball when dropped onto ice water.
  2. Remove from the heat and stir in the baking soda. The mixture will bubble up and then look creamy. Pour it over the popcorn in a large bowl and stir to coat. Spread the popcorn on lightly grease baking sheets and cool completely before serving.
