Candied Popcorn
This candied popcorn is nice and crunchy, not to sweet and positively addictive. The kids love it and it’s also a terrific snack with a glass of apple cider.
Method
- Combine sugar, water, golden syrup, butter, vinegar and salt in a saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat to 122 ºC (250 ºF) on a sugar thermometer or until a small amount forms a hard ball when dropped onto ice water.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the baking soda. The mixture will bubble up and then look creamy. Pour it over the popcorn in a large bowl and stir to coat. Spread the popcorn on lightly grease baking sheets and cool completely before serving.
