Breakfast Crumble

We’ve just spent a glorious weekend in the bush and my friend Karen Meyer surprised us one morning with this dried fruit crumble. We ate it warm with thick Greek yogurt.

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Poach the fruit in the orange juice, rind and juice of 1lemon, cinnamon and cloves until the liquid has reduced and become syrupy. Transfer the fruit to the baking dish.
  3. Make the crumble. Rub the butter into the cake flour until it resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar and oats and scatter on top of the fruit. Bake in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes until the topping is crisp and golden.
  4. Serve while still warm with Greek yogurt.
